Men open season with 4-3 win over Jewell

The Rockhurst men's tennis team opened the 2021-22 season with a 4-3 victory over William Jewell Wednesday at the Clayview Country Club.

Santiago Rodriguez and Cris Cequea-Rivero won their singles matches to rally the Hawks from a 3-2 deficit. Rodriguez won in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3, over Jewell's Pedro Braga. Cequae-Rivero collected the decisive point with a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 6 singles over Jewell's Nick Shields.

Andres Sahagun and Louis Keiner also posted singles victories in straight sets. Sahagun won his No. 4 singles match, 6-4, 6-0, while Keiner was a 6-0, 6-2 winner in No. 5 singles.

Sahagun and Brian King won their No. 3 doubles match by a 6-4 score.
