Women post road victory on late goal

Elle Kimball scored in the 86th minute to give Rockhurst a 1-0 victory over Illinois Springfield Sunday in Springfield, Illinois.

Kimball connected on a header from five yards out off a right cross from Elle Guttmann with 4:31 left on the clock. It was Kimball's third career goal.

The Hawks finished with 10 shots and six shots on goal. Kimball led Rockhurst with three shots and two shots on goal. Caroline Romme added two shots.

Freshman Taylor James posted six saves, four in the first half and two in the second half. She stopped a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

The Prairie Stars (7-5-2, 5-2-2 GLVC) posted 14 shots and six shots on goal.

Rockhurst (5-9-2, 4-6-2 GLVC) returns home to host William Jewell on Friday.
