Second-half goal gives Hawks a 1-1 tie with UMSL

The Rockhurst women battled Missouri-St. Louis for 110 minutes as the Hawks came away with a 1-1 tie with the Tritons Friday night at Bourke Field.

Gabby Hennessy scored the game-tying goal in the 55th minute. The freshman midfielder converted on a through ball from the center circle by Alex Moss to hit a shot on right side from 18 yards out.

UMSL took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a breakaway goal from Jayln Richardson in the 32nd minute.

Rockhurst posted six shots in both halves to finish with 12 shots. Hennessy, Elle Guttmann, Olivia Van Belle and Hannah Byrne each tallied two shots.

Freshman Taylor James tallied five saves, including three saves in the two overtime periods.

The Hawks (3-4-2, 2-1-2 GLVC) host Lindenwood at noon on Sunday.
