Lindenwood rallies for narrow win over Hawks

Lindenwood rallied from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter to edge Rockhurst, 62-59, Thursday night in St. Charles, Missouri.

Down 53-41 early in the fourth quarter, the Lions held Rockhurst scoreless over the next five minutes to pull within two points of the Hawks. Molly Hummel hit a short jumper at the 2:08 mark to give the Hawks a 59-56 lead.

Lindenwood's Devin Fuhring made three free throws to tie the score with 1:58 left. After the Hawks missed two shots, the Lions took the lead on a three-point play by Jamie Bain with 31 seconds left.

Keegan Sullivan led the Hawks with 14 points and five rebounds. The freshman guard gave Rockhurst a 12-point lead with her third 3-pointer of the game at the 9:12 mark in the final period.

Dally Sullivan finished with nine points. Molly Hummel tallied eight points and seven rebounds. Ella Wedergren scored seven points. Lani Thompson added six points and five rebounds.

The Hawks shot 40.7 percent from the field (24 of 59) and 50.0 percent from the foul line (six of 12). Rockhurst outscored the Bearcats in the paint, 32-22.

Lindenwood, 5-4, made 19-of-53 field goals (35.8 percent) and 16-of-25 free throws (64.0 percent). Junior forward Ellen McCorkle led the Lions with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Rockhurst, 5-5, plays at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.
