Daly Sullivan carries Hawks to road win at UMSL

Daly Sullivan scored a game-high 19 points to carry Rockhurst to a 57-51 victory over Missouri-St. Louis Saturday in St. Louis.

The Hawks, 6-5, snapped a three-game losing streak and won for the first time at UMSL since 2016.

Rockhurst closed the first half on a 15-8 run to take a 25-23 halftime. The Hawks led the entire second half and took their biggest lead of the game at 45-33 on a three-pointer by Daly Sullivan with 9:11 left.

Sullivan secured the victory by hitting with a clutch three-pointer to give the Hawks a 54-51 lead with 52 seconds left. The senior guard made seven-of-11 shots, including making four 3-pointers.

Monika Faerber posted seven points and nine rebounds. Keegan Sullivan tallied seven points and four rebounds. Lani Thompson and Lindsey Ingwerson combined for 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hawks shot 44.7 percent from the field (21 of 47) and 44.4 percent from the foul line (eight of 19). Rockhurst outscored the Tritons in the paint, 26-20.

UMSL, 9-6, connected on 18-of-58 field goals (31.0 percent) and eight-of-nine free throws (88.9 percent). Senior forward Alex LaPorta led the Tritons with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Rockhurst will make up a postponed game at Drury on Tuesday night.
