Early run leads Maryville past Hawks

Three players combined for 50 points to lead Maryville to an 82-51 victory over Rockhurst Saturday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Saints jumped out to a 20-2 lead in the first seven minutes and led 46-21 at halftime. Maryville outscored the Hawks, 36-30, in the second half.

Freshman Haley Wiskur led the Hawks with 11 points and five rebounds. Daly Sullivan scored nine points on three-of-seven shooting. Monika Faerber posted seven points and eight rebounds.

The Hawks shot 28.3 percent from the field (17 of 60) and 54.2 percent from the foul line (13 of 24). Rockhurst's bench outscored the Saints' bench, 29-25.

Maryville, 6-6, connected on 27-of-63 field goals (42.9 percent) and 24-of-36 free throws (66.7 percent). Junior guard Jayda Jansen led the Saints with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Rockhurst, 5-3, will host Southwest Baptist on Monday night.
