RU golf teams open season at Ottawa Invitational

The Rockhurst men’s and women’s golf teams open their 2020-21 seasons at the Ottawa Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Rockhurst men's and women's golf teams open their 2020-21 seasons at the Ottawa Invitational, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22 at the par-72 Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence, Kansas.

The RU men return to the links for the first time since the fall of 2019 as the spring season was cancelled due to COVID-19. The RU women's season ended last March in the Southwest Minnesota State Spring Challenge in Arizona.

Senior Jack Junge will lead the men's team after posting a team-high 75.64 scoring average in five tournaments last year. Other top returnees include seniors Luke Brugman, Daven Bhagar and Nick Caldwell, along with junior Brett Blau and sophomore Mac Piles.

Emma Mullendore leads a strong sophomore trio for the women's team. Mullendore finished with a team-best 79.71 scoring average last year. Caroline Setter and Caroline Lynch both averaged under 86 shots per round in 2019-20.

Action starts on Monday morning with 18 holes and concludes with another 18 holes on Tuesday.
