The Rockhurst Hawks split their doubleheader Saturday in Florida, falling to St. Cloud State, 6-5, but bouncing back to beat Hillsdale, 12-4.
The Hawks exploded for 19 hits in the win over Hillsdale.
Payton Staggs,
Jaden Santoni and
Dominique Salinas each racked up three hits, while
Emily Clark,
Maya Gallagher,
Shelby Winkelman and
Katie Wood each added two hits. Staggs led the way in RBIs with four, while Gallagher drove in three.
The Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Gallagher and a two-RBI single from Staggs.
Leading 8-4 going into the bottom of the sixth, Rockhurst kept the line moving, rattling off four straight RBI singles to secure the run-rule victory.
Pitcher
Olivia Prather pounded the strike zone, allowing just one walk in five innings.
Lexie Storrer came on in the sixth and struck out two in her one inning of work.
Rockhurst battled back in game one, trimming a 6-1 deficit to 6-5, but fell one run short.
Lauren Marks was three-for-three with a walk and two RBIs.

Calli Wibbenmeyer, Staggs and Gallagher each added two hits.
The Hawks (11-5) are back in action Monday, taking on Northwood (1:30 p.m. CST) and Lock Haven (3:45 p.m. CST).
