Hawks fall short in offensive battle, 16-11

Missouri S&T scored five runs with two outs in the ninth inning to pull out a 16-11 victory over Rockhurst Sunday at RU's Bourke Field.

The Miners broke the 11-11 tie with a triple and double to take a two-run lead. S&T tacked on three more runs without the benefit of a hit.

Rockhurst rallied from a 7-1 deficit to take an 11-9 lead in the sixth inning. The Hawks scored six runs on six hits in the sixth to take the lead. The Miners tied the score with two runs in the eighth.

Garrett McNally, whose two-run single gave the Hawks a 10-9 lead, posted three hits and three RBIs. Tommy Kraus and Connor Ellefson combined for five hits and five RBIs. The pair hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth.

Tyler Stamer led the 15-hit attack with four hits. Nathan Mark drove in two runs with a ground-rule double in the sixth.

The Hawks (8-7, 1-2 GLVC) host Upper Iowa in a doubleheader om Wednesday afternoon.
