Strong pitching leads Hawks to 3-1 win in Florida

Rockhurst remained unbeaten in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with a 3-1 victory over Cedarville Friday in Auburndale, Florida.

C.J. July and Luke Lancaster combined on a seven-hitter to lead the Hawks (4-4) to their third consecutive victory.

July shut out Cedarville on five hits and struck out eight in 6.0 innings. Lancaster pitched the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Nathan Mark led Rockhurst with two hits, including a run-scoring single in the third. Garrett McNally opened the second with a single and came around to scored on a balk. Noah Villarreal led off the eighth with a single and scored on a passed ball.

The Hawks meet Saint Anselm College in a doubleheader on Sunday in Winter Haven, Florida.
