Men's Tennis downs McKendree, 4-2

The Rockhurst men's tennis team posted a 4-2 victory over McKendree in a non-conference dual match Sunday at the Northland Racquet Club in North Kansas City, Missouri.

The Hawks captured a point in doubles with wins in No. 2 and 3 doubles. RU's Masao Perret and Santiago Rodriguez were winners in No. 2 doubles by a 6-4 score. Nicolas Leon and Alex Bernadas captured their No. 3 doubles match, 6-4. Martijn Eleveld and Ermanno Galimberti fell in No. 1 doubles, 6-4.

Galimberti and Rodriguez won in straight sets in No. 3 (6-0, 6-0) and 4 singles (6-4, 6-3). Eleveld won by default in No. 5 singles. Bernadas was leading in No. 6 singles (6-7, 6-3, 3-2) as the match was unfinished.

In No. 1 singles, McKendree's Alwyn Mushonga defeated Perret in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 6-3). The Bearcats' Leonardo Frederico won a three-setter over Leon in No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-7, 6-3).

The Hawks (2-1) will be back in action Feb. 28 against Missouri-Kansas City at Plaza Tennis Courts.
