Hawks rally in second half for 62-59 win at Missouri S&T

Monika Faerber and Daly Sullivan combined to score 33 points to lead Rockhurst to a 62-59 victory over Missouri S&T Saturday in Rolla, Missouri.

Faerber led the Hawks with a career-high 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting. The junior forward also collected eight rebounds and seven steals.

Sullivan scored 10 of the Hawks' last 11 points, including a go-ahead three-pointer to give Rockhurst a 58-57 lead with 2:32 left. The senior guard added a layup at the 1:36 mark and a free throw with 22 seconds left.

The Hawks rallied from a 37-29 deficit in the third quarter to take a 44-41 lead into the fourth quarter. Faerber capped a 21-6 run with a layup to put Rockhurst in front 50-43 with 7:12 left to play.

Sullivan scored all 11 of her points in the fourth quarter while finishing with four steals and three assists. Molly Hummel and Lani Thompson combined for 12 points and 10 rebounds. Haley Wiskur came off the bench to score seven points.

Rockhurst shot 35.9 percent from the field (23 of 64) and 66.7 percent from the foul line (12 of 18). The Hawks outrebounded S&T, 38-34.

The Miners (0-3) connected on 24-of-52 field goals (46.2 percent). Alex Kerr led the Miners with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Hawks (3-1) play an exhibition game at Missouri-Kansas City on Sunday at 4 p.m.
