Drury holds off Hawks for 37th consecutive victory

Drury withstood a pair of Rockhurst rallies to pull away late for a 76-64 victory over the Hawks Saturday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Rockhurst went on a 14-4 run in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 60-60 at the 4:49 mark. Daly Sullivan and Hailey Dolphin each scored six points in the run.

The Lady Panthers secured their 37th consecutive victory by scoring 11 of the next 13 points to take a 71-62 lead with 1:27 left.

The Hawks scored nine unanswered points to take a 46-44 lead with 1:19 left in the third quarter. Molly Hummel scored the go-head basket for Rockhurst off a fast-break turnover.

Sullivan led the Hawks with 16 points on seven-of-16 shooting. Hummel scored a career-high 15 points on seven-of-11 shooting and recorded three steals. Dolphin came off the bench to collect nine points and four rebounds.

Monika Faerber posted eight points, 10 rebounds, four assists and five steals. Lani Thompson added seven points and 10 rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 44.1 percent from the field (26 of 59) and 38.9 percent from the foul line (seven of 18). The Hawks outscored Drury in the paint, 38-30.

The Panthers (5-0) connected on 23-of-58 field goals (39.7 percent) and made 25-of-27 free throws (92.6 percent). Azia Lynch led Drury with 19 points.

The Hawks (3-2) play at Southwest Baptist on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
