Sullivan sisters lead Hawks to road win at McKendree

The Hawks posted their first victory of the season at McKendree.

Box Score Rockhurst exploded for 28 points in the fourth quarter in posting a 70-61 victory over McKendree on Sunday in Lebanon, Illinois.

The Hawks connected on 10 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers from the Sullivan sisters, and made all six of their free throws in the final 10 minutes.

Freshman guard Keegan Sullivan led the Hawks with 15 points. She scored seven points in the second quarter and five more in the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Daly Sullivan scored 14 points, including seven in the fourth quarter.

Junior forward Monika Faerber and sophomore forward Lani Thompson each finished with eight points. Freshman guard Haley Wiskur added six points in the second half.

Rockhurst tallied 25 field goals and seven 3-pointers, while hitting 13-of-16 free throws.

McKendree (0-1) connected on 18 field goals, including four 3-pointers, and 21-of-30 free throws. Senior guard Madison Jones led the Bearcats with 19 points.

The Bearcats outscored the Hawks 18-12 in the third quarter to tie the score at 42-all heading into the fourth quarter. Rockhurst took a 30-24 halftime lead after posting an 18-6 advantage in the second quarter.

The Hawks (1-1) host William Jewell in their home opener on Thursday 7:30 p.m.
