Hawks travel to Illinois for pair of GLVC games

Meghan Urbanski is averaging 10.7 points per game.
The Rockhurst Hawks continue conference play, traveling to Lewis (Thursday, 5:30 p.m.) and Illinois Springfield (Saturday, 1:00 p.m.).

Coach Larry Park's team heads to Illinois with a record of 6-4 (1-2 GLVC). The Hawks split a pair of GLVC contests last week, defeating Quincy (72-61) and falling to Truman State (91-70).

Rockhurst ranks fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 74.1 points per game. Madeline Ronshausen (14.7 pg), Meghan Urbanski (10.7 pg) and Daly Sullivan (10.4 pg) have led the Hawks offensively this season. That trio has combined to make 46 three-pointers, as the Hawks average 7.5 triples per game, the second-highest rate in the GLVC.

Freshman Paige Pendley has provided a spark of late, averaging 8.3 points per game. Reagan Dodd leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 4.8 boards per contest.

The Lewis Flyers enter Thursday's matchup with a record of 6-5 (3-0 GLVC). The Flyers remained unscathed in conference play with narrow wins over Indianapolis (73-70) and Bellarmine (78-76) last week. Lewis is led by forward Rachel Hinders, who averages 18.1 points per game. Hinders has been a force in the Flyers' last three contests, posting 28, 24 and 28 points respectively, including 28-of-29 from the foul line during that stretch. Shooting 92.6 percent from the line this year, Hinders leads the conference in free-throw efficiency.

The UIS Prairie Stars are currently 5-6 on the year and are seeking their first conference win. After a 3-1 start, Springfield has dropped five of its last six games. The Prairie Stars will look to get back on track, led by the play of Lauren Ladowski. The sophomore guard leads UIS in points (15.0 pg), assists (3.3 pg) and is third in rebounds (4.9 pg).
