Hawks coast to 96-49 win over Saint Mary

The Rockhurst Hawks connected on 14 three-pointers as they cruised to a 96-49 win over Saint Mary Monday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Leading 28-22 early in the second quarter, the Hawks gained separation scoring 18 of the next 20 points. Madeline Ronshausen (team-high 16 points) and Paige Pendley (13 points) both heated up during the run. Pendley also tied for the team lead in rebounds with six and led the Hawks in assists with five. Meghan Urbanski (14 points) was a key part of the three-point barrage, going four-for-six from beyond the arc.

Even with a sizable halftime lead, 55-31, there was no drop off in intensity as the Hawks held Saint Mary to just five points in the third quarter.  Reagan Dodd and Mary Leigh Rock each added eight points as Rockhurst continued to stretch the lead in the second half. In their third game in five days, the Hawks were able to showcase their depth as 15 players scored for Coach Larry Park's team.

Rockhurst shot an impressive 30-of-58 from the floor (51.7 percent), including 14-of-28 from three-point range. The Hawks were active on the glass, earning a 46-29 rebounding advantage. The aggressive Rockhurst defense forced 22 USM turnovers and converted those into 30 points.

The Hawks (8-5) are home again this Thursday vs. Southern Indiana (5:30 p.m.) and Saturday vs. McKendree (1:00 p.m.).
