The 13th-ranked Rockhurst Hawks defeated Southern Indiana in three sets Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House. The win is Rockhurst's seventh straight 3-0 victory, as the Hawks have now won 21 consecutive sets.
Karli Reichert posted a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Alyssa Woodman collected nine kills and 11 digs.
Audrey Arand was an energizer, tallying nine kills and four blocks.
Dani Prusha posted a double-double with 32 assists and 11 digs.
Jadyn Makovicka recorded a team-high 14 digs.
Set One: Rockhurst 25, Southern Indiana 15
The Hawks started fast, opening up leads of 6-0 and 11-2. USI would never get closer than within seven.
Set Two: Rockhurst 25, Southern Indiana 13
The Screaming Eagles scored four of the first five points in the second set, but Rockhurst stormed back with an 11-2 run to surge ahead 12-6. Moments later, the Hawks would rattle off another big run, seven straight, turning a 15-10 lead to a 22-10 advantage.
Set Three: Rockhurst 25, Southern Indiana 20
USI hung tight in the third, tied as late as 14-14, but the Hawks took five of the set's final six points to complete the sweep.
"We were athletic at the net today; we were aggressive, and Dani [Prusha] moved the ball around really well, getting everybody involved," assistant coach
Brian Tate shared.
With Saturday's win, the Hawks improve to 12-3 (2-0 GLVC). They travel to Lindenwood (Thursday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m.) and Missouri-St. Louis (Saturday, Oct. 5, 3 p.m.) for more GLVC action.
