Rockhurst remains unbeaten with 4-2 road victory

Senior defender Colleen Pikus scored right before halftime to power 22nd-ranked Rockhurst to a 4-2 victory over Southwest Baptist Friday in Bolivar, Missouri.

Pikus tallied an unassisted goal with 35 seconds in the first half to give the unbeaten Hawks a 3-2 lead. It was her first goal of the season and her third career goal.

Rockhurst freshman Kaylee Freihaut tied the score at 1-1 with her first career goal in the 26th minute with an assist from Mary Koeller. Freshman Greta Seal came back less than a minute later to score her second goal of the season, giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead.

Freshman Olivia Van Belle gave Rockhurst a two-goal lead in the 61st minute with her first career goal, assisted by Seal. The Hawks outshot Southwest Baptist by a 7-2 margin in the second half.

Rockhurst (6-0, 4-0 GLVC) finished with 20 shots, including 10 shots on goal. The Bearcats (2-3-1, 1-1 GLVC) posted 10 shots.

Koeller led the Hawks with four shots. Jillian Leetch had three shots. Elle Guttmann, Seal, Pikus and Freihaut added two shots apiece. Sophomore keeper Megan Meyers finished with four saves.

The Hawks close out the weekend at Drury Sunday afternoon.
