No. 17 Hawks win two at Harding Invitational

The 17th-ranked Rockhurst Hawks cruised to a pair of sweeps Friday -- over Ouachita Baptist (25-13, 15-13, 25-14) and Harding University (25-12, 25-8, 25-21) -- in day one of the Harding Invitational in Searcy, Arkansas.

The Hawks put the pressure on Ouachita Baptist in the morning match, maintaining a strong hitting percentage of .379. compared to negative-.011 for the Tigers. Rockhurst racked up 39 kills, with a game-high 14 coming from Alyssa Woodman. Mary Rolf wreaked havoc in the middle, collecting a game-high seven blocks and six kills. Karli Reichert added nine kills and three blocks.

Dani Prusha led the way in assists with 32, while also adding eight digs. Jadyn Makovicka tallied a game-high 15 digs. Jessica Schlautman kept plays alive, collecting seven digs.

Coach Tracy Rietzke's club was equally sharp in the afternoon match vs. Harding, again not surrendering a single set. The senior trio of Woodman, Reichert and Rolf combined for 30 kills, while the Hawks again held a sizable advantage in hitting percentage, .385 to .059.

Justice Wingate posted a game-high three blocks. Prusha was busy again with 37 assists and seven digs. Makovicka led the way in digs with 19, while Schlautman added nine digs.

The Hawks (7-3) have two more opportunities to add wins to their non-conference resume Saturday as they meet Arkansas-Monticello (9:00 a.m.) and Christian Brothers University (1:00 p.m.).
