The Rockhurst volleyball team travels to Kearney, Nebraska this weekend where they are scheduled to play four matches in the Rosella Meier Fall Classic.
The Hawks play twice Friday -- 10:00 a.m. vs New Mexico Highlands, 2:00 p.m. vs. Arkansas Tech -- and two more Saturday -- 2:00 p.m. vs. University of Mary, 6:00 p.m. vs. Nebraska-Kearney.
Rockhurst checks in at No. 17 in this week's AVCA Coaches poll. Nebraska-Kearney is ranked eighth in the country, so Saturday night will be a competitive battle between two of the Midwest's premier programs.
The Hawks earned a 2-2 split in the Texan Invitational last week with wins over West Alabama and Cal State-Los Angeles, and losses to top 10 teams Tarleton State and Minnesota-Duluth.
Karli Reichert and
Alyssa Woodman combined for 101 kills in the Hawks' first four matches.
Dani Prusha has racked up 146 assists. Her 10.43 assists per set average is fourth-best in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Jadyn Makovicka has tallied 76 digs, ranking second in the GLVCÂ at 5.43 digs per set. Makovicka was selected to the All-Tournament team last weekend and was named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week.
Coach
Tracy Rietzke's team looks to continue to build toughness with these road tournaments. The Hawks have their first home matches September 27 and 28 vs. GLVC foes McKendree and Southern Indiana.
