Hawks power their way to 7-5 win over SBU Bearcats

Tyler Stamer drove in four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run, to power Rockhurst to a 7-5 victory over Southwest Baptist in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday at the Urban Youth Academy.

Stamer cleared the left-field fence in the first inning to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead. He added an RBI single in the third to increase the lead to 4-2.

Wylson Lamb homered to left-center in the fourth to boost the lead to 5-2. Joe Specht added a two-run single in the fourth to widen the lead to 7-2.

Stamer, Tommy Kraus and Garrett McNally led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Thomas Jones (3-3) allowed four runs on five hits with five strikeouts over five innings. Jack Eisenbarger got the final four outs to collect his first save of the season.

The Bearcats posted a 15-0 victory in the first game. SBU scored all of its runs in the first four innings and finished with 19 hits.

Rockhurst (12-34, 6-24 GLVC) close out the season at Missouri S&T this weekend in Rolla, Missouri. A doubleheader will be played on Friday at noon, followed by a single game at noon on Saturday.
