Eisenbarger throws one-hitter in 16-0 win over UMSL

Junior left-hander Jack Eisenbarger shut down Missouri-St. Louis on one hit over seven innings to lead Rockhurst to a 16-0 victory over the Tritons in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at the UMSL Baseball Field.

Eisenbarger retired the last 21 hitters after allowing a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning. He struck out eight in his second shutout of the season. He threw a no-hitter against Bemidji State earlier this season in Fort Scott, Kansas.

Rockhurst scored five runs on six hits in the first inning. Eric Kuse hit a two-run double after Alex Van Pelt, Nathan Mark and Craig Straws posted RBI singles.

The Hawks added six runs in the third and five runs in the sixth. Mark led off the third with a home run. Colby Smith drove in two runs with single in the third. In the sixth, Tyler Stamer hit a solo home run and Blake Pickard smashed a pinch-hit grand slam.

Van Pelt, Mark, Stamer, Kuse, Garrett McNally and Noah Huston each had two hits to lead the Hawks' 18-hit attack.

The Tritons won the second game, 11-1, to capture the three-game series. McNally had two of the Hawks' six hits.

Rockhurst (8-23, 5-15 GLVC) returns home to play William Jewell Tuesday night.
