A
Sydney Wilde home run highlighted a four-run fifth inning as Rockhurst rallied past Bellarmine, 4-3, in game two of Friday's doubleheader at Loyola Park.
Wilde, a freshman from Jefferson City, Mo., in her second career plate appearance, turned the tides with a three-run blast to left field.
Lauren Marks and
Kiri Evans scored on Wilde's homer.
The Hawks would keep the line moving with a
Megan Freitag walk, an
Emily Truitt double, followed by a
Hanna Stam walk. With the bases loaded,
Emily Clark drew another walk, scoring Freitag and putting the Hawks ahead 4-3. Rockhurst battled and showed great plate discipline in grinding out what would prove to be the game-winning run.
Shannon Greene (three innings pitched, zero runs, zero hits) kept the Knights at bay in the final three frames, coming on in relief of
Olivia Prather (4 IP, 3 ER).
Bellarmine took game one by a score of 3-1.
Calli Wibbenmeyer collected three hits and drove in the Hawks' lone run.
Rockhurst (18-13, 7-5 GLVC) is back in action at Loyola Park Saturday against first place Southern Indiana at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
