Hawks fall short against Indy in GLVC finals

Top-seeded Indianapolis scored the game-winning goal with 18 seconds left in the game to edge second-seeded Rockhurst, 15-14, in the championship game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Sunday in Indianapolis.

Rockhurst's Drake O'Neill tied the score at 14-all with 44 seconds left. The Greyhounds won the ensuing faceoff and called timeout with 36 seconds left. Brian Robb scored on an eight-yard shot 18 seconds after play resumed.

For the second time in 10 days, the Hawks jumped out to a quick start against Indianapolis. Rockhurst led 8-3 early in the second period and took a 10-6 lead into halftime.

The sixth-ranked Greyhounds scored the first four goals of the second half to even the score at 10-all. O'Neill and Sam Lindahl scored back-to-back goals to give the Hawks a 12-10 lead with 12:22 left in the game.

Indy tied it up again with two goals in the next four minutes. Kai Trujillo gave Rockhurst its final lead of the game with a goal with 7:12 left on the game clock.

Trujillo led the 14th-ranked Hawks with four goals. O'Neill finished with three goals and two assists. Lindahl tallied two goals and one assist. Collin Fischer tallied two goals and two assists. Zach Bodeau had nine faceoff wins and eight ground balls. Alex Pfeil posted 18 saves.

Indianapolis outshot Maryville, 53-39. Lindahl led the Hawks with 10 shots. O'Neill and Trujillo each collected six shots.
