The Rockhurst softball team earned a win on Senior Day, taking game one of Saturday's doubleheader vs. Illinois Springfield by a score of 3-2.

Shannon Greene mowed through the UIS lineup, pitching a complete game allowing just two runs and striking out five.

Emily Truitt put the Hawks on the board in the bottom of the second, plating Taylor Rupe and Megan Freitag on a triple down the right field line.

The Prairie Stars cut the deficit in half on a Carolyn Franke solo home run in the third inning. Lauren Marks answered in the bottom half for Rockhurst with a line drive homer to left center field, putting the Hawks ahead 3-1.

The solo home run party would continue in the fourth as Calla Wickenhauser pulled UIS back within one. But Greene blanked the Prairie Stars the rest of the way to preserve the 3-2 victory.

Rupe collected a team-high two hits in game one.

Springfield took game two by a score of 9-3. Hanna Stam homered for the Hawks and Freitag posted two RBIs.

Rockhurst is back in action Sunday vs. McKendree at noon and 2:00 p.m.
