Hawks rally for 7-5 win over Northwest Missouri

Rockhurst scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally for a 7-5 victory over Northwest Missouri State in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday night at RU's Loyola Park.

Nathan Mark singled home two runs to break a 5-5 tie with two outs in the sixth. The Hawks tied the score in the sixth with aid of a throwing error by the Bearcats' shortstop, which brought home two runs.

Daniel Kohl (2-3) held Northwest Missouri scoreless over the final three innings without allowing a hit. He struck out three and walked two.

Brandt Callahan and Blake Pickard each posted two hits for the Hawks. Colby Smith and Callahan collected RBI singles in the fourth.

Northwest Missouri won the first game, 6-4, in eight innings. The Bearcats jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth before the Hawks rallied to tie the game at 4-4 on a two-run home run by Eric Kuse in the sixth.

Craig Straws, Garrett McNally and Tommy Kraus led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Nathan Miller (0-4) allowed one run on two hits over four innings.

Rockhurst (10-31, 5-22 GLVC) hosts McKendree in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
