The Rockhurst softball team dopped both games of a doubleheader at Maryville by scores of 3-2 and 5-2 Saturday afternoon in St. Louis.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first innning of game one as
Emily Truitt scored on a wild pitch during a
Calli Wibbenmeyer walk.
Maryville took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning. Rockhurst would level the score as
Megan Freitag singled home
Payton Staggs, but the Saints walked it off in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single.
Emily Clark collected two hits in game one.
Shannon Greene pitched well for Rockhurst, going the distance, allowing just two earned runs.
Maryville picked up where it left off in game one, scoring the first five runs in the second game. The Hawks would get on the board in the sixth inning as
Hanna Stam singled home Freitag. Rockhurst would add another run in the seventh as
Shelby Winkelman drove in
Sydney Wilde, but the Hawks could not complete the comeback.
The Hawks (20-23, 7-15 GLVC) conclude their regular season at home next weekend, hosting Illinois Springfield Saturday and McKendree Sunday (noon and 2:00 p.m. both days).
