Rockhurst rallied for three runs in the sixth inning as the Hawks took down Missouri S&T, 4-2, in game one of Saturday's doubleheader at Loyola Park.
The Hawks trailed 2-0 in the third inning until
Megan Freitag scored on an
Emily Clark sacrifice fly to cut the deficit in half.
The score remained 2-1 until the Hawks heated up in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on the corners,
Hanna Stam roped a double to left-center field, putting the Hawks up 3-2 as Freitag and
Katie Wood came around to score. Rockhurst would add an insurance run as Stam scored on a Clark double.
Olivia Prather shut the door on the Miners, pitching three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four.
Three Hawks -- Stam, Clark and Freitag -- collected two hits apiece. Freitag scored twice, while Stam and Clark each finished with two RBIs.
Missouri S&T took game two of the doubleheader by a score of 5-0.
Payton Staggs had two of Rockhurst's four hits.
The Hawks are back in action Saturday, Mar. 30, hosting William Jewell at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
