The Rockhurst softball team opened GLVC play with a pair of wins at Quincy, sweeping the doubleheader by scores of 3-1 and 7-0 Sunday afternoon.
Pitcher
Shannon Greene mowed through the Quincy lineup in both games, allowing a combined one run on four hits in 10 innings, notching her ninth and 10th wins of the season.
Emily Truitt led the charge offensively in game one, going three-for-three at the plate with two runs scored.
Calli Wibbenmeyer and
Payton Staggs each drove in runs, while
Katie Wood scored the Hawks' third run on an error.
Greene went the distance in game one, not allowing a run until the seventh inning (7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H).
Wibbenmeyer put the Hawks ahead early in game two with a two-run homer in the top of the first. The freshman from Columbia, Illinois would drive in two more runs on a double in the fifth inning, scoring Truitt and
Hanna Stam. Wibbenmeyer finished the game three-for-four with four RBIs and two runs scored. Stam went two-for-two with a pair of walks and three runs scored.
Greene pitched four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
Paige Renner tossed three hitless innings, closing out game two.
The Hawks (13-8, 2-0 GLVC) play a doubleheader at Truman State on Monday.
