Hawks wrap up regular season with two road games

The Hawks look to finish strong with two regular season games remaining.
The Rockhurst Hawks, fresh off an impressive performance at William Jewell, travel to Drury (Thursday, 5:45 p.m.) and Missouri S&T (Saturday, 1:00 p.m.) to conclude the regular season.

The Hawks shot a scorching 54.9 percent from the floor and 61.1 percent from three in a 88-63 win over Jewell last Saturday. Madeline Ronshausen (26 points) upped her average to 18.8 points per game (third-best in the GLVC). Briahtia Sebek (18 points, four-of-six 3-pointers) continues to light it up from three in her senior season, shooting an efficient 46.5 percent (second-best in the GLVC).

Rockhurst has a tall task Thursday, taking on the nation's top team on the road. The Drury Panthers defeated the Hawks, 62-41, on Jan. 5 at Mason-Halpin Field House. That 62-point total is Drury's lowest scoring output of the season, so the Hawks will look to ramp up the defensive intensity again this time around. The 26-0 Panthers rank first in the GLVC in points scored (84.9 pg) and points allowed (55.6 pg). Something has to give when the Hawks' 3-point attack (first in the GLVC and third in the nation at 39.8 percent) meets Drury's top-ranked 3-point defense (27.1 percent). Hailey Diestelkamp (21.2 ppg) and Paige Robinson (15.0 pg) anchor the Panthers offensively. Robinson had a game-high 19 points in the Jan. 5 meeting.

The Hawks travel to Rolla, Missouri on Saturday, looking to avenge a 77-75 loss (Jan. 3) against Missouri S&T. Both teams are 5-11 in the league and will be hungry to end the season on a high note. The Miners had five players in double figures in the first meeting. Mykala Baylor was a tone setter for S&T, scoring 16 points, pulling in 11 rebounds and blocking six shots. Ronshausen scored a game-high 19 points, right near her season average. The All-Conference candidate will look to lead the Hawks to a big road win Saturday.
