Ronshausen surpasses 1,000 career points as Hawks take down Quincy

Madeline Ronshausen scored 24 points in Rockhurst's 81-67 win over Quincy Thursday night, taking her over the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Needing 11 points to reach 1,000 career points, Ronshausen wasted no time reaching the milestone, dropping 12 points in the first quarter. Points 999, 1,000 and 1,001 came on a 3-pointer from the wing with 3:10 remaining in the opening quarter.

"Right when I hit it, everybody was so excited. Lauren Krissman came up and body slammed me," Ronshausen said with a smile. "It was such a great environment. I'm so happy and proud that my team was right there with me."

The junior guard set the tone for Rockhurst, shooting nine-of-10 from the floor, including three-of-three from beyond the arc, while pulling in a team-high five rebounds, and tying for the team lead in assists with four.

Her benchmark triple in the first quarter gave the Hawks a 21-8 lead. Rockhurst took a 23-12 lead into the second quarter after a buzzer-beating jumper from Kaci German.

The Hawks stretched the lead to 15 at 34-19 on a Briahtia Sebek 3-pointer midway through the second quarter. Quincy fired back with a 12-0 run to pull within three. A Meghan Urbanski runner in the lane stopped the run. Rockhurst took a 38-31 lead into the break.

The Hawks led 49-40 in the third before a 6-0 spurt, capped by a German offensive rebound and layup, put Rockhurst up 15 going into the fourth quarter.

The lead grew as large as 19 in the final period, as the Hawks cruised comfortably to a 14-point win.

Sebek finished with 17 points on six-of-10 from the field. Krissman tallied 11 points, four rebounds and four assists. Reagan Dodd added nine points while Urbanski chipped in eight.
