Hawks advance in NCAA Regional with 3-2 win over Ferris State

Rockhurst Post-Match Press Conference

Karli Reichert posted 17 kills and 23 digs to help rally 19th-ranked Rockhurst to a 3-2 victory over 17th-ranked Ferris State (25-18, 21-25, 17-25, 25-9, 15-13) in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional Thursday night in Romeoville, Illinois.

The fifth-seeded Hawks, 30-7, will face top-seeded Lewis in the NCAA regional semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Romeoville.

"That was a wild one. It didn't look very good after the third set," said Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke. "Our seniors didn't want to lose and go home, and finish the season. It came down to a little will-power at the end and we were fortunate to win."

Audrey Arand, Alyssa Woodman and Dani Prusha joined Reichert with double-double nights. Arand posted 13 kills and 16 digs. Woodman collected 10 kills and 22 digs. Prusha had 44 assists and 15 digs.

"I was able to be successful tonight because the rest of our offense did their job and it got me some one-on-ones," Reichert said. "Dani did a good job of giving me a ball to put away. It was really a team effort."

Justice Wingate and Mary Rolf combined for 14 kills and 10 blocks. Jadyn Makovicka tallied a team-high 25 digs.
