The Rockhurst Hawks, winners of three straight, tip off GLVC play Tuesday at William Jewell (5:30 p.m.).
In their last three contests --Â wins over Ottawa, Washburn and Rogers State --Â Coach
Larry Park's team is averaging 87.7 points per game. The Hawks (3-2) will look to continue their efficient play offensively against the Cardinals.
Three Hawks are averaging double figures early in the season --
Madeline Ronshausen (15.2 points per game),
Meghan Urbanski (14.4 pg) and
Daly Sullivan (10.4 pg). Urbanski scored a team-high 18 points in the Hawks' win over Rogers State Saturday. The sophomore guard from South Bend, Indiana has converted 30-of-47 field goals thus far (63.8 percent), including six-of-11 from three (54.5 percent).
Freshman
Paige Pendley provided a spark against Rogers State, scoring a career-high 17 points. The Elgin, Oklahoma native shot five-of-eight from the floor and five-of-six from the foul line. Pendley was decisive against the Hillcats' full-court pressure and was an energizer during the Hawks' 10-0 run in the second quarter, which proved to be the turning point in the game.
Jewell enters Tuesday's matchup with a record of 3-3. The Cardinals lost their previous game against Central Missouri, 69-59, but won two in a row before that -- vs. Bemidji State (72-66) and Lincoln (87-72). The Cardinals are led by junior forward Kiara Bradley, who is averaging 17.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, both team-highs.
