Hawks meet unbeaten Nebraska-Kearney in national semifinals

The Rockhurst University women's volleyball team will be making their second appearance in the NCAA Division II national semifinals. The 19th-ranked Hawks (33-7) will take on second-ranked Nebraska-Kearney (37-0) on Friday in a 5 p.m. (Mountain time) national semifinal match at the Auraria Event Center on the Metro State University-Denver campus in Denver, Colorado.

The Hawks posted a 3-0 victory over Carson-Newman in the national quarterfinals on Thursday. Kearney earned a spot in the semifinals with a 3-1 win over Gannon on Thursday.

Rockhurst and Nebraska-Kearney will be meeting each other for the eighth time. The Lopers have won the last two meetings and hold a 5-2 edge in the all-time series.

Kearney won their last meeting, 3-1, earlier this season at Kearney. The Hawks defeated Kearney, 3-0, in 2007 at Rockhurst and posted a 3-0 win over the Lopers in Anchorage, Alaska in 2015.

The winner will advance to the national championship match on Saturday at 5 p.m. (Mountain time.). No. 1-ranked Cal State San Bernardino meets 11th-ranked Regis (Colo.) in the seconed national semifinal Friday night.
