Second-quarter run leads Hawks past Rogers State

Four players scored in double figures to lead Rockhurst to an 89-81 victory over Rogers State Saturday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Meghan Urbanski scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the first half to help give Rockhurst a 51-41 halftime lead. Urbanski came off the bench to connect on eight-of-10 field goals in 27 minutes.

The Hawks outscored the Hillcats 29-16 in the second period behind 12-of-23 shooting (52.2 percent). Paige Pendley scored 10 points in the second quarter highlighted by a pair of 3-point field goals. The freshman guard finished with 17 points and five rebounds.

Madeline Ronshausen posted 17 points and four rebounds in only 20 minutes of action. The senior guard scored 13 points in the second half in helping lead the Hawks to a 69-51 lead late in the third period.

Senior center Rachel Holden collected 10 points, five rebounds and six blocked shots. Daly Sullivan and Maddy Grennes each scored seven points. Lani Thompson and Hailey Dolphin led the Hawks in rebounding with six boards apiece.

Rockhurst shot 48.3 percent from the field and 76.5 percent on free throws in winning its third consecutive game. Rogers State, which cut the Hawks' lead to seven points with five minutes left, hit 35.6 percent from the field and 42.9 percent on free throws.

The Hawks (3-2) open conference play at William Jewell on Tuesday, Dec. 3. After Jewell, Rockhurst will play its next four games at home.
