Rockhurst will meet RiverHawks in downtown KC

The Rockhurst Hawks will meet the Northeastern State RiverHawks at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the second of four games at the MIAA Men's Basketball Challenge at Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

The Hawks (2-2) are coming off a dramatic 109-100 victory in double overtime at Emporia State last Friday. Quinton Curry led the Hawks with 27 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Lewis posted 24 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists. Nick Volz collected 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Chris Hamil added with 20 points.

Lewis leads the Hawks with a 19.5 scoring average. Curry is averaging 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Volz is scoring 14.8 points per game and hauling down 8.0 rebounds an outing.

Northeastern State (5-1) suffered its first loss of the season last Friday, falling 73-59 at Tarleton State. The RiverHawks were looking for their first 6-0 start since their 2002-03 Division II national championship season. Senior guard Caleb Smith leads the team in scoring (13.8 pg).


The Hawks will open conference play at William Jewell on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
