Four Hawks earn GLVC postseason awards

The Rockhurst women's soccer team earned four postseason honors for the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Soccer season. The annual awards were presented Thursday at a reception on the eve of the GLVC Championship Tournament in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Junior midfielder Jillian Leetch and freshman defender Greta Seal were both named to the All-GLVC First Team. Senior forward Stephanie Ostrander and senior defender Cathy Rometti received All-GLVC Second Team recognition.

Leetch, a unanimous first team honoree, leads the Hawks with 17 points on five goals and seven assists. She is the conference leader in assists and ranks fifth in total points. Leetch was named the All-GLVC Second Team last year.

Seal has started 15 games in her first collegiate season, scoring eight points on two goals and four assists.

Ostrander earned her second GLVC postseason award. She was a first team selection last year, in addition to being named the 2018 GLVC Offensive Player of the Year. She has scored five goals this season and has collected 17 goals over the past two seasons.

Rometti is a four-year starter and handles most of the free kicks for the Hawks. She has scored three points on one goal and one assist.

The league also recognized 14 GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees and one Team award winner: Bellarmine. Senior defender Colleen Pikus is the honoree from Rockhurst. Pikus is now eligible to become one of RU's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
