The Rockhurst women's basketball team, fresh off a 62-52 victory over Bellarmine on Saturday, travels east for a pair of GLVC road games: Thursday at Indianapolis (4:30 p.m. central time) and Saturday at 18th-ranked Lewis (1:00 p.m.)
Saturday's win included one of the Hawks' best defensive performances of the season, holding Bellarmine to 32.6 percent shooting and outrebounding the Knights 35-28.
Madeline Ronshausen continues to lead Rockhurst offensively, scoring a game-high 20 points vs. Bellarmine, upping her average to 16.3 per game, third-highest total in the conference. Ronshausen (41.2 percent) and
Briahtia Sebek (37.3 percent) remain among the GLVC leaders in 3-point field goal percentage, ranking seventh and 12th, respectively. The Hawks lead the league in team 3-point percentage at 38.0 percent.
The Greyhounds of Indianapolis enter Thursday's contest with a record of 6-10, seeking their first conference win of the season (0-6). UIndy is led by three players averaging double figures: Taylor Drury (15.3 pg), Laura Thomas (13.6 pg) and Emma Benoit (12.6 pg). The Greyhounds shoot 43.2 percent from the field, fourth-best in the GLVC, but have been plagued by a turnover margin of minus-4.5 per game, last in the league. Ball security could be a deciding factor in Thursday's matchup, as Rockhurst has battled the turnover bug at times this year as well, with an average margin of minus-2.07.
The Hawks head to Romeoville, Illinois Saturday to visit the Lewis Flyers (14-2, 5-1 GLVC). Lewis is very sound on both ends of the floor, scoring 74.9 points per game while allowing just 57.8 pg. That plus-17.1 margin is second-best in the league. The Flyers lead the league in field percentage offense (48.6 percent) and field percentage defense (35.7 percent). Jessica Kelliher leads the high-flying Lewis attack, averaging a GLVC-best 22.9 points per game. The one-two punch of Kelliher and Rachel Hinders (11.6 pg) makes up one of the toughest frontcourts in the country. The Hawks will look to protect the paint and force Lewis to settle for outside jumpers.
Both games will be streaming on glvcsn.com and the GLVCSN mobile app. Live stats are available here on rockhursthawks.com.
