Hawks open 2019 with a pair of GLVC home games

Senior guard Briahtia Sebek is among the GLVC leaders in 3-point field goal percentage.
The Rockhurst women's basketball team (5-5, 1-1 GLVC) returns to Mason-Halpin Field House for Great Lakes Valley Conference action Thursday vs. Missouri S&T (5:30 p.m.) and Saturday vs. Drury (1:00 p.m.).

The Hawks won a nail-biter in their previous game at Adams State, 54-49, Dec. 19 in Alamosa, Colorado. Madeline Ronshausen scored 23 points in the win, upping her average to 17 points per game, third best in the GLVC. Rockhurst features three of the conference's top 10 leaders in 3-point percentage: Lauren Krissman, fourth (52 percent), Briahtia Sebek, eighth (43 percent) and Ronshausen, 10th (41 percent). Rachel Holden has been a strong rim protector for the Hawks, averaging 1.2 blocks per game, sixth-best in the GLVC.

Missouri S&T comes into the Hawks Nest with a record of 4-4 (0-1 GLVC). The Miners are led by Maddie Raley (14.1 points per game) and Alex Kerr (11.9 pg). S&T is currently riding a two-game winning streak, defeating Missouri Baptist (82-49) and Westminister (71-47) in their previous two contests.

Drury will be a tough test Saturday as the fourth-ranked Panthers are 11-0 (1-0 GLVC) on the year. The Panthers have the top offense in the GLVC, scoring 89.5 points per game and the second-ranked defense at 58.1 points allowed per game. Hailey Diestelkamp is the second-leading scorer in the conference at 20.0 points per game. Other key contributors for the Panthers include Paige Robinson (14.6 pg), Payton Richards (12.9 pg), Azia Lynch (10.9 pg) and Emily Parker (9.9 pg).
