Rockhurst faces formidable foes on home floor

The Rockhurst Hawks (10-5, 4-1 GLVC) face two of the top tradition rich programs in the GLVC this week. The Hawks meet the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles (11-4, 3-2 GLVC) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and then host the Bellarmine Knights (14-0, 5-0 GLVC) on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Hawks have won seven of their last nine games and are coming off an 88-75 win over William Jewell last Saturday at home.

Sophomore guard Chris Hamil stands 12th in scoring (14.6 pg), fifth in 3-point field goals (2.73 pg) and eighth in steals (1.33 pg) in the GLVC. Sophomore guard Curtis Lewis ranks sixth in assists (4.27 pg) and 19th in scoring (13.7 pg) in the GLVC.

Sophomore forward Quinton Curry ranks 20th in scoring (13.3 pg), seventh in rebounding (6.6 pg), sixth in field goal percentage (57.7) and 12th in blocked shots (0.67 pg) in the GLVC. Senior forward Connor Evans is second in blocked shots (1.27 pg) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Eddie Muench ranks seventh in 3-point field goals made (2.40) in the GLVC.

The Hawks won their last meeting versus Southern Indiana, 75-70, in Kansas City on Feb. 17, 2018. USI leads the all-time series, 17-2, since the series started in the 2005-06 season when the Hawks joined the GLVC.

The Eagles posted a convincing homestand sweep last week at home, defeating Truman State, 80-65, and Quincy, 78-56. Senior guard Alex Stein was named the GLVC Player of the Week after leading USI with 22.0 points per game, while sophomore forward Emmanual Little posted 14.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest. Stein ranks third in the GLVC in scoring with a 20.7 average.

Bellarmine is the No. 1 ranked team in Division II. The Knights are currently ranked either first or second in 12 different GLVC statistical categories. Bellarmine boasts the league's No. 2 scorer with preseason All-American Adam Eberhard averaging 20.8 points a game and leads the league in field goal accuracy at 67.6 percent.

The Knights won their last meeting with the Hawks, 87-64, in Kansas City on Feb. 15, 2018. Bellarmine leads the all-time series, 10-4.
