Late goals lift Hawks to 4-1 win at Missouri S&T

Rockhurst scored three goals in the last 14 minutes to pick up a 4-1 victory over Missouri S&T Sunday in Rolla, Missouri.

Less than two minutes after the Lady Miners tied the score, Brittany Valieant gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead when she scored on a rebound off the S&T goalkeeper in the 77th minute. McKenna Leetch put in a header in front of the goal with an assist from Jillian Leetch in the 82nd minute to put Rockhurst in front 3-1. Freshman Elle Guttmann capped the scoring one minute later off a redirect in front of the goal.

Stephanie Ostrander gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead in the first half. The junior forward scored her team-high eighth goal of the season in the eighth minute on a header off a cross from the end line. McKenna Leetch and Maddie Dierkes assisted on the goal.

Rockhurst finished with 14 shots and seven shots on goal. The Lady Miners collected 12 shots and five shots on goal. Ostrander led the Hawks with three shots. Guttmann and McKenna Leetch each had two shots. Freshman Megan Meyers made four saves in goal.

The Hawks (5-4-1, 4-2 GLVC) play at William Jewell Friday night.
