Overtime goal gives Miners 3-2 win over Rockhurst

Missouri S&T scored off a long set piece in overtime to edge Rockhurst, 3-2, in a men's soccer match Sunday in Rolla, Missouri.

The Miners' Tyler Sivadon headed in a shot off a long free kick over the head of Rockhurst goalkeeper Nick Randazzo in the 94th minute.

The victory was S&T's third over the Hawks in the last three years. The Miners also posted an overtime win over Rockhurst in the first round of the GLVC Tournament last year in Kansas City.

Both teams scored on penalty kicks in the first half. Pablo Salvador Lopez scored in the eighth minute, while S&T's Hunter Short tied the score three minutes later.

The Miners took a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute when Mark Poindexter ripped a shot past Randazzo. Rockhurst tied the score at 2-2 in the 66th minute when Salvador Lopez made a pass to Federico Verlicchi for the game-tying goal.

Rockhurst finished with 16 shots. Verlicchi and Salvador Lopez each had three shots to lead the Hawks. Randazzo collected two saves for the Hawks.

The Hawks (3-4-2, 2-2-2 GLVC) next face William Jewell on Friday in Liberty, Missouri.
