Hawks handle UAM in three sets

The 11th-ranked Rockhurst Hawks defeated Arkansas-Monticello in three sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-3) Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Karli Reichert posted a team-high 11 kills. Alyssa Woodman added nine kills and a team-leading 14 digs. Dani Prusha led the Hawks with 25 assists and added 10 digs.

Set One: Rockhurst 25, UAM 11
The Hawks jumped out to a 10-4 lead to open the match. UAM got within five at 13-8, but a 5-0 Rockhurst run gave the home team some breathing room, and the Hawks never looked back.

Set Two: Rockhurst 25, UAM 19
The Blossoms were competitive in the second set, jumping out to a 6-4 advantage. They led as late as 15-14, but the Hawks closed out on an 11-4 run with 10 of those points coming via kills. Woodman put a punctuation mark on the set, scoring Rockhurst's last four points (all kills). The Hawks had 18 kills in the set.

Set Three: Rockhurst 25, UAM 3
The Hawks threw a knockout punch in the third set, scoring the first nine points. UAM got on the board after a timeout and cut the lead to eight at 10-2, but Rockhurst went on a 15-1 run to close out the match.

Alyssa Woodman. The junior from Omaha kept plays alive with 14 digs and her nine kills came at momentous times for the Hawks.
