The Rockhurst women dropped a tough setback in overtime Friday night, falling to Truman State 3-2 at Bourke Field.
The Hawks struck first in the fourth minute when
McKenna Leetch headed in a cross from her sister,
Jillian Leetch. The Bulldogs would even the score 1-1 on a Hanna Burke penalty kick in the 31st minute after a Rockhurst foul in the box.
Deadlocked at the half,
Cathy Rometti broke the tie in the 52nd minute with a well-struck free kick that bounced in off the right post to give the Hawks a 2-1 advantage. Truman State responded just minutes later when Maggie Beem found the back right of the net from 10 yards out in the 57th minute. The score remained tied at 2 at the end of regulation.

Truman pounced quickly in overtime as Faith Branson hammered home the game-winner from the top of the box in the 93rd minute to give the Bulldogs a victory in extra time.
The Bulldogs outshot the Hawks 16-7. Three Hawks tied with a team-high two shots, the Leetch sisters and Rometti.Â
Rosie Breheny had five saves for Rockhurst.

Truman improves to 6-1 overall (2-1 GLVC) with the win. Rockhurst falls to 3-3-1 (2-1 GLVC). The Hawks are back in action on Sunday at noon to take on Missouri-St. Louis.
