Hawks fall to Westminster, 15-14, in RMAC Tournament

Box Score Third-seeded Westminster upset second-seeded Rockhurst, 15-14, in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Friday in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Westminster scored the deciding goal with 2:17 left in regulation after Rockhurst tied the score 14 seconds earlier. The Hawks missed two shots in the final two minutes.

The game was tied at 5-all at halftime and remained even at 10-10 going into the fourth period. The Griffins scored four consecutive goals to take a 14-11 lead. The Hawks tallied three unanswered goals to tie the score for the ninth time in the game.

Drake O'Neill led the Hawks with four points on three goals and one assist. Collin Fischer and Kai Trujillo each tallied two goals. Sam Lindahl and Connor Hill added two points.

Westminster outshot Rockhurst, 45-40. O'Neill led the Hawks with seven shots. Lindahl and Shea Radel had five shots each apiece.

Zach Bodeau won 14-of-17 faceoffs and collected eight ground balls. Sal Valdivia added 10 faceoff wins and eight ground balls. Alex Pfeil posted 10 saves.

The 18th-ranked Hawks end their fifth season as a program with a 14-3 record. Westminster advances to face Colorado Mesa in the RMAC championship game on Saturday.
