Hawks fall 10-9 to Mesa on buzzer-beating shot

Box Score Colorado Mesa beat the horn to end regulation by less than a second to edge Rockhurst 10-9 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game Saturday at RU's Bourke Field.

Calen Ketcham's shot from 10 yards out with 0:00 left gave the 14th-ranked Mavericks their second win of the season over the 17th-ranked Hawks.

Rockhurst scored three unanswered goals to take a 7-5 lead early in the second half. Mesa rallied to take a 9-8 lead early in the fourth period. The Hawks' Sam Lindahl made it a 9-9 game with his 39th goal of the season with 6:47 left in the game.

Jake Martin led the Hawks with three points on one goal and two assists. Lindahl and Michael Beckham each scored two goals. Collin Fischer tallied one goal and one assist.

Mesa outshot Rockhurst, 40-39. Lindahl led the Hawks with seven shots. Drake O'Neill and Martin added five shots apiece.

Sal Valdivia won seven of 10 faceoffs and picked up four ground balls. Zach Bodeau was five of 11 on faceoffs with three ground balls. Alex Pfeil collected nine saves.

The Hawks (13-2, 6-2 RMAC) close out the regular season at home against Indianapolis on Saturday, April 21.
