The Bellarmine Knights connected on seven of their first eight field goals and never looked back in posting an 87-64 victory over the Rockhurst Hawks Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Bellarmine jumped out to a 26-7 lead at the second media timeout while hitting six 3-point field goals. The seventh-ranked Knights shot 70.8 percent (17 of 24) in the first half and took a 55-28 lead into halftime.

"Bellarmine was a well-oiled offensive machine that we couldn't stop in the first half," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "We didn't think their point guard would be that confident (on 3-pointers) and he proved us wrong. That being said, my guys are fighters. They never give up and are resilient. It's been a tough year, but these guys are fun to coach."

Quinton Curry led the Hawks with 17 points and four rebounds. Curtis Lewis posted 12 points, four assists and four rebounds. Eddie Muench scored nine points on three 3-pointers. Auston Rushing finished with eight points and four rebounds.

Curry and Muench combined for 20 points in the final 20 minutes as the Hawks outscored Bellarmine 36-32 in the second half while shooting 51.9 percent from the field.

Rockhurst shot 47.1 percent from the field (24 of 51) and 36.0 percent from behind the 3-point line (nine of 25). Bellarmine made 24 of 44 field goals (54.5 percent) and 11 of 25 3-point shots (44.0 percent).

The Hawks (12-13, 5-10 GLVC) host Southern Indiana on Saturday.
