Hawks fall at No. 6 Fort Hays State

The Rockhurst women's basketball team dropped the second game of their three-game road trip Monday night at sixth-ranked Fort Hays State, 89-55.

Madeline Ronshausen led the Hawks with 14 points, including four-of-four from beyond the arc. Briahtia Sebek tallied eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. Lauren Krissman added six points, while Hailey Dolphin, Marisa Lowe and Morgen Smith each dropped in five points. Tracy Monahan was active on the glass, pulling down a team-high five rebounds.

Coming in with a record of 8-0, Fort Hays State looked the part in the first quarter, jumping out to a 19-4 lead. Rockhurst responded with a 6-0 run to pull back within single digits on back-to-back jumpers from Krissman and a pair of free throws from Dolphin. A Madison Mittie three-pointer in the closing seconds of the first quarter gave the Tigers a 24-10 lead heading into the second quarter.

Ronshausen hit two threes in the first 1:18 of the second quarter, closing the gap to nine at 25-16. Fort Hays responded with eight of the next 10 points to stretch the margin to 16 at 34-18, and would take a 46-28 lead into halftime. The Tigers separated themselves further in the third quarter as a 10-0 run gave them a 70-35 advantage.
