Hawks explode for 106 points in win over Avila

Rockhurst defeated Avila 106-63 Wednesday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Lauren Krissman was on fire for the Hawks, racking up a game-high 30 points on 11-of-12 shooting, including 6-for-6 from three-point range. Madeline Ronshausen added 14 points. Rachel Holden scored 11 points and reeled in a team-high five rebounds. Tracy Monahan chipped in 10 points on an efficient 4-for-6 from the floor. Claire Rose added nine points and dished out a team-high four assists. Briley Sebek tallied eight points, all in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks started fast, shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the arc while opening up a 27-20 lead after one quarter. There were no signs of cooling off in the second quarter, as they added 25 more points, including 6-of-7 from the foul line, to take a 52-36 lead into the break. Krissman had 16 points at the half on a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, 4-for-4 from three and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

Rockhurst distanced themselves in the third quarter, opening with an 18-3 run to go up 70-39. The Hawks remained scorching hot and also tightened up defensively, outscoring the Eagles 29-8 in the quarter, and they weren't done yet. The Hawks broke the century mark, posting 25 points in the fourth quarter on 10-for-14 (71 percent) from the floor.

Player of the Game: Lauren Krissman. The junior guard from Fort Smith, Arkansas dazzled the home crowd with her red-hot outside shooting. Krissman didn't miss a shot until late in the third quarter en route to 30 points.
