Hawks fall to Maryville, 1-0, in GLVC Tournament semifinals

Fourth-seeded Maryville broke a scoreless tie in the 81st minute to defeat eighth-seeded Rockhurst 1-0 in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament Friday afternoon in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

The Hawks end their season with an 8-8-2 record. Maryville (10-4-4) advances to Sunday's championship game against second-seeded Bellarmine (12-5-1).

Junior forward Diego Coy scored the lone goal of the game on a free kick from the left side just outside the box. Coy found the back right of the net from 19 yards out. Earlier in the second half, the Saints had two shots go off the crossbar. The Hawks's final opportunity came in the 87th minute when Maryville keeper Christian Kjaersgaard stopped a shot by Federico Verlicchi.

Rockhurst posted 10 shots and three shots on goal. The Saints collected 12 shots and four shots on goal. Pablo Salvador Lopez led the Hawks with three shots. Verlicchi, Marco Cora and Jordan Andrews each had one shot on goal. Freshman keeper Nick Randazzo finished with three saves.
